California utility cuts power again, officials fear desert winds to spread more fires

Los Angeles firefighters took advantage of favorable weather on Tuesday as they raced to subdue a wildfire displacing thousands of hillside residents, while the state's biggest utility imposed yet another round of precautionary power outages in northern California.

Dangerous Desert Winds Whips Up More LA Area Fires
Firefighters in Southern California prepared for another day of gusty winds as they continue to battle wildfires. The region’s Santa Ana winds have been so dry and powerful that the National Weather Service created a new alert level. The weather service is now issuing β€œextreme red flag warnings” to describe the extraordinarily dangerous winds. More wildfires ignited as a result of the winds near Los Angeles, destroying homes and forcing evacuations.
