How To Catch Next Weekend's Total Lunar Eclipse

On January 20, a total lunar eclipse will be visible in North and South America and western parts of Europe and Africa.

As an extra bonus, there will also be a supermoon, which means the eclipse will appear bigger than usual.

According to Lifehacker, a lunar eclipse doesn't black out the moon -- instead it creates what's sometimes referred to as a Blood Moon.

Earth's shadow completely blocks the sun, but light still makes its way through causing a red cast on the Moon's surface.
