Boeing Completes First Test Flight of its Uber Air Taxi

It looks like flying cars might be in our future after all, not just flying cars but driverless flying cars!??In a recent press release, Boeing’s NeXt Program revealed its Autonomous Passenger Air Vehicle had its first test flight.

??The prototype successfully completed takeoff, hovering and landing.??Boeing said upcoming flights will assess how the vehicle will move forward and how it processes in between vertical and forward-flight mode.??The release went on to say the vehicle measures 30 feet long and 28 feet wide and has a range of up to 50 miles.

??John Langford, president and chief executive officer of Aurora Flight Sciences said??"Certifiable autonomy is going to make quiet, clean and safe urban air mobility possible."??Boeing is currently partnering with Uber to develop, Uber Air.

??"We think cities are going to go vertical in terms of transportation and we want to make that a reality." CEO of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi, said to CBS News back in May of 2018.

??But Boeing isn’t the only one in the upward race for flying vehicles; ??CNBC reports Boeing competitor Airbus and a start-up in Germany called Volocopter are working on air prototypes of their own.
