'Bye, Jayme,' Jake Patterson says exiting court after pleading guilty to kidnapping, killings

Attorneys for a Wisconsin man who admitted to abducting 13-year-old Jayme Closs and killing her parents say he wanted to plead guilty "from the day we met him."

The man accused of kidnapping jayme closs and killing her parents pleaded guilty this afternoon.

Jamie perez joins us in studio with details of what happened during today's hearing.

Each count of intentional homicide hold a maximum sentence of life in prison.

The kidnapping charge means a maximum of 40 years behind bars.

The judge said he could impose all the sentences consecutively.

The state said it will not file criminal charges for the crimes committed in douglas county connected to the rise of the barron county charges.

Patterson's attorneys said they discussed his options with him including a right to a fair jury trial.

They said patterson intended to plead guilty since day one.

Even so, patterson got emotional in court today as he was doing so.
