Police Clash With 'Yellow Vest' Demonstrators in Avignon

Riot police and protesters clashed in a public square in Avignon, on Saturday, March 30, as a 20th weekend of nationwide ‘Yellow Vest’ demonstrations took place in cities across France.Video posted to Facebook from Place de l’Horloge in Avignon captured police with riots shields pushing back and forth with a group of demonstrators.

Confrontations with police were reported across the city throughout the day, with police deploying tear gas to disperse protesters throwing stones at police vehicles.Protests organized by the “Yellow Vest” movement have regularly mobilized thousands in cities and towns across France against the fiscal policies of President Emmanuel Macron.Police had closed Avignon’s central train station on Saturday ahead of the protests.
