China state media blames Hong Kong for violence in protests

On Thursday Chinese state media said in editorials published across the country protests in Hong Kong over planned new extradition laws with China are โ€œhammeringโ€ the cityโ€™s reputation, with outbreaks of โ€œlawlessnessโ€ undermining rule of law.

Reuters reports that Hong Kong riot police and protesters braced for possible further clashes on Thursday after a day of violence over the extradition bill that would allow people to be sent to mainland China for trial.
