Bernie Sanders Reveals Plan to Eliminate Student Debt The 2020 presidential candidate says taxes on Wall Street transactions will help enact his strategy.

Bernie Sanders, via Twitter The Vermont senator goes on to say that over 10 years, $2.4 trillion can be generated by a 0.5% tax.

Bernie Sanders campaign, via statement The proposal is similar to another one issued by fellow 2020 candidate Elizabeth Warren.

For her own student debt plan, Warren wants a 2% tax on people with fortunes $50 million or higher.

For those with over $1 billion, the Massachusetts senator's plan tacks on a 1% wealth tax.

According to CBS, over 40 million people still owe money from school.
