Thanks for joing us tonight..

One person is flown to the hospital after flipping a four wheeler.

It happened behind the sandfield one stop in columbus around seven.

Initial reports are that the a-t-v flipped with and landed on top of the person.

Right now it's unclear if there was more than one person riding the four wheeler.

The condition of the person injured is unknown at this time.

If you received property damage when a tornado ripped through columbus four months ago..

You may want to listen up... city leaders are notifying everyone whose homes were damaged and can't be salvaged... to clean up their property... our quentin smith speaks with the city's code enforcement officer..

So quentin..

What options do home owners have?

Scott..

They have three options... they can either repair the damaged structure.... demolish the structure themselves..

Or have the city come in and demolish it for a fee... a letter was sent out at the beginning of the month notifying residents of this change..

Now they have seven days to answer... one dilapidated home after another.... after february's tornado...homes like these are common sites across columbus' north side... " it's an eyesore to th community."

Not just an eyesore, but according to city code enforcement officer tomarris jones, also a potential health hazard..

"you got kids playing in th neighborhood and there's the potential that they can go into the houses and harm themselves, and it's also a fire hazard."

So to help clean up the area, the city of columbus is asking property owners to step up to the plate.

" we really just want to kno what their plan of action is next.

Whether they plan on demoing the structure themselves, or whether they plan on rebuilding or repairing the structure, or if they go ahead and just authorize the city to come out a private property and demo the structure for a fee."

Homeowners have until the first of july to make a decision and notify the city of that decision.

After that, they will have 45 days to start rebuilding on their home or to have it demolished.

" we're probably going t check in on those weekly just to see what type of progress that they are making.

If they haven't made any progress within those 45 days then we are going to go ahead and proceed with the abatement process."

Jones says they understand some homeowners may be faced with financial problems..

However..

He says they're committed to working with all homeowners anyway they can to get the city back to how it was prior to the storm..

"we're looking to get i cleaned up as fast as they can.

We know this is not an overnight process."

If you received the notice... it must be mailed or taken in person to the building inspection office..

For more information... just visit our website at wcbi dot com... the columbus municipal school district voted "yes" th morning to extend the school feeding program for another month.

From july 1st through the 26th, children ages up to 18 can receive free breakfast and lunch at stokes- beard elementary school.

And there's no registration required.

Child nutrition director mia johnson says this extra month should help families who are still struggling from the tornado.

" this will probably be thei only meal they'll have and so we try to make it a healthy meal, a filling meal , a meal that can last them the next morning until we see them for breakfast."

" it shows compassion that th district has towards the children by extending this program.

Because some of those children, not just the ones that are in our part of camp, some of these children walk over here and this may be the only nutritious meals that they receive during the day."

Breakfast is served from 7:45 a.m to 8:30 a.m lunch is served from 11a.m to 1p.m the feeding program will be closed on july 4th and 5th.

If you live in an apartment, your rent is probably due on the first of the month.

But a new law, taking effect on july 1st could have a big impact on area rental properties.

The new law is supposed to help landlords across the state collect their rent more efficiently.

However, some area landowners are a little skeptical.

Our cash matlock has more... it is a unique community, tucked between the mississippi state campus and downtown starkville.

Dan camp is the force behind the cotton district and the owner of the cotton district rental properties.

He's been in the real estate business for 50 years now and says he's in favor of senate bill 2716.

"from a landowner standpoint, it's a very good bill.

It allows us to expedite the situation."

In the past, camp says once a tenant is served an eviction notice, he or she is given a court date.

After that court date, the judge will most likely give the tenant several weeks or even months to leave the apartment or rental property.

Camp says sometimes this time period can be too long for a business trying to turn a profit.

"otherwise they'd have 90 days or in some cases 180 days, of free rent.

That's not good."

"it affects us by no collecting that particular piece of properties rent" "the bank note keeps on goin even if you don't collect the rent."

The new bill will help speed up the eviction process, giving the landowner permission to force tenants out sooner, sometimes within a matter of days.

However, camp says this is up to the judge and sheriff of each county to enforce.

"the bill can say all of thes elaborate things that it wants to, but if you don't have anybody willing to serve it, then you are up the creek without a paddle, so the saying goes."

Camp says his business will most likely not be affected by the new bill, but he says he'll keep his eye on it in case it comes in handy later.

"we really hadn't had problem.

So, for those that would have a problem, yeah.

I could see how that would be helpful."

"you should review who you'r renting to first of all.

Make an application out, and check the application out to see if they're worthy of living in your properties."

Full details of the bill are on our website - wcbi dot com.

Hi.

I'm lee richardson, a physician in the emergency room at baptist memorial hospital golden triangle.

If you don't replace lost fluids, you may get dehydrated.

We lose water every day in the form of water vapor in the breath we exhale and as water in our sweat, urine and stool.

Along with the water, small amounts of salts are also lost.when we lose too much water, our bodies may become out of balance or dehydrated.

Severe dehydration can lead to death.symptoms of dehydration include:?

A dry, sticky mouth?

Sleepiness or tiredness - children are likely to be less active than usual?

Extreme fussiness or sleepiness in infants and children; irritability and confusion in adults?

Thirst?

Decreased urine output - no wet diapers for three hours for infants and eight hours or more without urination for older children and teens.?
