Australia's Home Affairs Minister, Peter Dutton, told 'Nine Network' on Friday (July 5) that Alek Sigley should stay in Japan, or travel to South Korea or Australia, adding that all of those were better options than returning to North Korea.

Sigley, who flew to Tokyo on Thursday (July 4) to reunite with his Japanese wife, had been studying in the North Korean capital and been missing since June 25.

Sigley, after his release, initially flew to Beijing where he was met by Australian officials ahead of the flight to Tokyo.

He declined to comment to a throng of reporters at Haneda Airport, only making a peace sign before being taken away.
