Former UK PM Major vows to block Brexit parliament suspension

Johnson, Major's colleague in the Conservative party and the favourite to become the next prime minister, has refused to rule out suspending -- or proroguing -- parliament to ensure Britain leaves the European Union on Oct.

31, with or without a deal.

Major said that would put the Queen, who would have to consent to the decision, in the midst of a constitutional crisis.

Parliament is opposed to a disorderly Brexit without a transition deal.

He accused Johnson of hypocrisy for backing Brexit over issues of sovereignty, only to sideline ministers when it suited him.
