Police Intervene as Protesters Demonstrate Against Parallel Trading in Hong Kong

Protests in Sheung Shi, Hong Kong, against parallel traders, vendors who buy their stock in Hong Kong for resale in mainland China, led to clashes with police on Saturday, July 13, according to the South China Morning Post.

Protests against the practice of parallel trading have been ongoing since 2012, with thousands taking to the streets in the latest demonstration.

Organizers called for a further protest in Sha Tin for Sunday, July 14, according to the South China Morning Post.

The latest protests take place in the wake of huge demonstrations against a proposed extradition bill, in which hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets.
