Police and Protesters Clash at Hong Kong Shopping Mall

Protesters and police clashed at the New Town Plaza shopping center in the Sha Tin area of in Hong Kong on July 14, resulting in injuries to both parties, the South China Morning Post reported.

Footage from Twitter user Hong Kong Hermit shows demonstrators gathered on the streets outside the mall.

Some protesters pelted police in riot gear with objects from a balcony overlooking the street.

Inside the mall, protesters threw objects such as umbrellas and plastic bottles at police.

Police attempted to disperse the protesters using tear gas and force in some instances, according to reports.

Witnesses reported seeing blood on the floor.

Hong Kong Free Press said 33 protesters were arrested.
