Fireworks Shot in Direction of Hong Kong Demonstrators

Fireworks were launched in the direction of a groups of protesters in Tin Shui Wai, Hong Kong, in the early hours of Wednesday, July 31, video shows.

The incident occurred around 2.30 am as protesters gathered at Tin Shui Wai Police Station, local media HK01 and Stand News reported.

A black car was seen driving past the station, with a passenger shooting fireworks at the crowd, reports said.

According to student reporting group Campus TV, HKUSU, which posted this footage showing the moment the fireworks landed by demonstrators near the police station entrance, at least five people were injured in the incident.

Tin Shui Wai Police Station was one of several stations surrounded by demonstrators on Tuesday, who clashed with officers equipped with pepper spray and bean bag rounds, the South China Morning Post reported.

The demonstrators were calling for the release of fellow protesters detained following an earlier protest on Sunday, July 28.
