Saudi Arabia Ends Travel Restrictions For Women

Saudi Arabia has begun allowing adult women to travel without permission and to exercise more control over their family.

Human rights groups say women are frequently treated as second-class citizens under Saudi laws.

Prior to the decree, women were required to get the consent of a male guardian for important decisions regardless of age.

Authorities have chipped away at restrictions in recent years, including ending a ban on women driving cars last year.
