(SOUNDBITE) (English) FORMER VICE PRESIDENT, JOE BIDEN, SAYING: "We have a president who believes there is no limit to his power.

We have a president who believes he can do anything and get away with it.” Democratic presidential front-runner Joe Biden blasted President Donald Trump on Tuesday, and said he would support opening impeachment proceedings if the Republican president fails to comply with congressional requests for information on a controversial call with Ukraine.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) FORMER VICE PRESIDENT, JOE BIDEN, SAYING: “Denying Congress information to which it is constitutionally entitled and obstructing its efforts to investigate actions is not the conduct of an American president.

It is an abuse of power." Trump has acknowledged he discussed Biden in the July 25 call with the Ukraine President, but denies he withheld nearly $400 million in U.S. aid to Ukraine as leverage to get Zelenskiy to launch a probe that could damage Biden… (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP, SAYING: "As far as withholding funds, those funds were paid.

They were fully paid.

But my complaint has always been, and I'll withhold again, and I'll continue to withhold until such time as Europe and other nations contribute to Ukraine..." BIDEN: “The allegations that blocked hundreds of millions of dollars, he blocked hundreds of millions of dollars in Congressionally approved aid to another country is an allegation, unless he agreed to smear a political opponent, is not the conduct of an American president.” Later on Tuesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi officially launched an impeachment inquiry of Tump (SOUNDBITE) (English) HOUSE SPEAKER, NANCY PELOSI, SAYING: "I'm announcing the House of Representatives moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry." The Wall Street Journal and other news outlets on Friday said Trump repeatedly asked Zelenskiy to investigate unsubstantiated charges that Biden, while vice president, threatened to withhold U.S. aid unless a prosecutor who was looking into a gas company in which Biden’s son was involved was fired.

Biden’s position - that the prosecutor be fired - was backed by the U.S. government, the European Union and other international institutions for his alleged failure to pursue major corruption cases.Biden denies that he did anything improper (SOUNDBITE) (English) FORMER VICE PRESIDENT, JOE BIDEN, SAYING: (from Saturday) “Trump is using this because he knows I’ll beat him like a drum...” Trump – despite his repeated allegations against Biden, has offered no evidence to support his claims of wrongdoing.
