Embattled Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam has invoked colonial-era emergency powers that threaten protesters with a year in prison for hiding their faces.
But many defied the ban, covering their faces as the marched through the center of the Asian financial hub.
Hong Kong police were braced for two major protests on Sunday, following violence on Friday (October 4) night which saw clashes with police, subway stations set on fire, and mainland China banks targeted.
