In a stunning upset, first-time New York City Marathoner Joyciline Jepkosgei is the women's winner.

The Kenyan had the second-fastest time ever, upsetting favorite and fellow Kenyan Mary Keitany, who was trying to win her fifth NYC Marathon in six years.

Jepkosgei won the race with an unofficial time of two hours, 22 minutes and 38 seconds.

Geoffrey Kamworor won the men's race in two hours eight minutes and 13 seconds.

He last claimed the title in 2017.

Kamworor, training partner of world's fastest marathoner, took command in the final two miles.

Defending champion Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia dropped out of the race at about the seventh mile.

He'd been attempting to win again just four weeks after claiming the world championship title in the extreme heat of Doha.

More than 52,000 runners competed in the race in near perfect marathon conditions.
