A U.S. appeals court on Monday (November 4) ruled that President Donald Trump's longtime accounting firm must hand over eight years of his tax returns to New York City prosecutors.

The decision is the latest setback for Trump in his efforts to keep his finances secret.

Manhattan District Attorney

Class="kln">Cyrus Vance issued a subpoena to the Mazars accounting firm as part of a criminal probe into Trump and his family real estate business.

Trump sued Vance's office to block the release.

A lawyer for the president said Trump will appeal Monday's ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Unlike past presidents and presidential candidates, Donald Trump has refused to publicly release his tax returns.
