AOC, Sanders unveil Green New Deal for public housing

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez unveiled on Thursday legislation as part of their Green New Deal that provides $180 billion over 10 years to cut carbon dioxide emission from public housing through the use of solar panels and renewable energy resources.

Sanders said the legislation would "make public housing in America for two million people more energy efficient, safer and more comfortable." AOC said it would "decarbonize the entire public housing stock" in the U.S. The legislation presented by the two Democrats would reduce carbon emissions equivalent to taking one million cars off the roads.
