To demonstrate Newton's first law of motion, Australian science teacher Jacob Strickling lets one of his homeschool students smash a concrete block on his chest with a sledge hammer.

In the second part of the video, filmed on Wednesday (January 22), one of Jacob's female students bravely volunteers to give the experiment a go, while one of her peers smashed the block with some trepidation.

The only safety equipment required is a full face protection visor which is used to protect teeth and eyes.

Jacob told Newsflare: "It was a very memorable science lesson!" Jacob regularly records entertaining science videos, with a number of them reaching over a million views on Facebook.
