Hero van driver given top medal after pulling woman from burning car

Hero van driver Luke Ridley receives the Queen’s Gallantry Medal for great courage after he rescued a woman from a burning vehicle.

The incident happened on the A303 in Amesbury, Wiltshire, in November 2018.

He was presented with the honour at an investiture ceremony by the Prince of Wales.

Police say if it was not for Mr Ridley’s quick thinking the woman would have died, as the car became engulfed in flames two minutes after they arrived at the scene.
