Psychological horror series "Castle Rock", set in the Stephen King multiverse, returns for a second season, airing on StarzPlay in the UK on Thursday (February 13).

Season two centres around Lizzy Caplan's character Annie Wilkes, a mentally ill nurse on the run with her daughter Joy (played by Elsie Fisher).

The pair stumble upon the fictional town of Castle Rock, where their past catches up with them.

Also appearing in the new season is Tim Robbins, who described Caplan's performance as "absolutely insane".

Robbins plays Reginald 'Pop' Merrill, the patriarch of the Merrill crime family.

The actor has not worked on a Stephen King project since 1994's "The Shawshank Redemption".

In the 10-episode second season, the Merrill family's feud with another family comes to a head as Caplan's character wreaks havoc in Castle Rock.

It premiered on Hulu in the US in October 2019.

"Castle Rock" is produced by J.J.

Abram's Bad Robot Productions.

The series is set in Maine and intertwines themes and characters from multiple Stephen King novels.

The first season featured Andre Holland in the lead role, with Bill Skasgard, Sissy Spacek and Jane Levy also starring.
