Is It You? In October, Americans Will Need This Type Of ID To Fly

A post-9/11 security law is set to go into effect on October 1st, 2020.

And according to CNN, some two-thirds of US state driver's licenses aren't compliant with its standards.

Those who who have licenses that aren't compliant won't be able to fly if they don't have other forms of "REAL ID-compliant" identification.

Concerned about the impact on travel, the head of the US Department of Homeland Security loosened the restrictions this week.

The moves allows various state agencies to accept identity documents electronically.

Nevertheless, an in-person visit is still required, as is showing up with physical copies of your documents.

Ensuring every state is REAL ID compliant by October is one of the Department's top priorities.
