They acknowledge the atmosphere will be different... 3 commissioner cox also announced attendance restrictions on the state gymnastics meet to take place at ball state this weekend... but unlike basketball, there will be no fans allowed at the gymnastics state finals due to the number of essential personnel required to put the event on...the ihsaa will broadcast the gymnastics finals and as many basketball regionals as possible on the ihsaa champions network online... so while the ihsaa continues with their seasons this weekend it seems like every other sport will cancel or postpone their upcoming events for the forseeable future... the big one of course coming from the ncaa earlier today... the ncaa announcing via a statement they have canceled the men's and women's basketball tournaments...that of course coming with a local impact..

Purdue fort wayne and the coliseum were set to host a women's basketball regional in just over two weeks...the ncaa also said in their statement as well as all remaining winter and spring ncaa championships...that means no hockey, no baseball, and no softball national titles will be decided this season... purdue fort wayne took it one step further from that..the mastodons athletic department announcing they have canceled all conference and non- conference athletic competitions through the end of the academic year...which means the dons run in the summit league comes to a swift close...in addition, p-f-w also announced a moratorium on all on and off campus recruiting for the foreseeable future..

The naia also followed suit with the ncaa today...in the midst of their division two basketball national tournaments, the league announced they have canceled all winter championship events...the saint francis and indiana tech men and women's basketball teams were taking part in said tournaments..there is no word from the naia yet on the status of spring athletic competitions..

We jump ship to the pros now... late last night the nba announced they would suspend their season for the foreseeable future...and shortly after the g league followed suit...the league sending a press release shortly before midnight wednesday night they have suspended play effective immediately...according to the team, the mad ants are working to provide information to fans with tickets to upcoming home games...we will have the latest for you as we continue to receive it... continuing on the cancelation train... the nhl won't be playing games any time soon... and neither will the ahl or echl...the nhl making their decision earlier thursday... the ahl and echl followed with their announcements of suspension shortly after....the komets are asking fans who purchased tickets to hold on to them as they determine plans to reschedule events forthcoming..
