Coronavirus rattles the sports world

Thanks chris.///// coronavirus what started as a joke in media availability on monday with utah jazz center á rudy goábear á quickly spiralled out of control.

Goábear touched all of the microphones on his way out of the media room... then minutes before tipoff last night... he reportedly tested positive for the corona virus.

Now á games across the entire country are being suspended.

Káiámát news three sports director á kaleb gillock á joins us now.... what do you guys make of this?

(( ad lib chat with raquel, chris, and kaleb )) well let's take a look at what all has happened over the last 24 hours or so.

All of the changes started happening yesterday when the nácáaá a announced it would be playing the tournament with limited fans and staff.

Here's what we've learned today.

The biggest news just came out.... the ncaa has announced there will be no ncaa basketball tournament.

The minnesota state high school league says that beginning tomorrow... there will limited fan attendance... only designated fans by each school will be granted admittance.

The njcaa division iii men's basketball national tournament at rácátác is still on... but the national championship game has been bumped up from saturday to tomorrow.

The náaá3áhál has suspended play for the fraser cup playoffs.

But the nba... nhl... mls... and now mlb spring training have been suspended... and opening day has been delayed by at least two weeks./// so kaleb á what do you take away from all of this.

(( ad lib chat with raquel, chris, and kaleb )) it's honestly hard to put into words.... is it disappointing that all of these sports are getting cancelled?

Yes.

And it's okay to be upset about it.

But what we have to understand and take away from all of this is that these governing bodies are doing this for our health and public safety... and when you start to realize that... sports become pretty secondary.
