EASTMAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Jass Graphix in Dodge County is known for making signs and art, but the COVID-19 pandemic may change that.

Jass graphix in dodge county typically sells art and signs.

But due to the covid-19 pandemic, their orders are starting to look a little different.

41nbc's peyton lewis has the story.

"she was like could you make me some masks and i said well, i don't know.

And she said, well we ain't picky we just need something, but i mean that's a physical working, maybe not the greatest most comfortable, but that's ready to go."

Sean peacock, the owner of jass graphix in eastman, says people in middle georgia have been contacting him to make face shields.

His shop typically makes signs and art, but peacock says as soon as he recognized a need, he took action.

"a classmate reached out to me, middle of last week, and said her and 9 nurses desperately needed a face shield, could i do it?

So i jumped on it right away and since then i've had two other hospitals reach out."

*nat pop of the printer* using a 3-d printer in his shop, peacock has been able to make a few dozen shields so far.

The masks are made out of a laminated sheet, the pla filament that the 3d printer uses, and a rubber band.

Peacock says it's rewarding to be able to make something that can help his community.

"it does me good to know that we delivered a quality product that can at least give them a smile.

So if we can deliver this mask, it may prolong their life.

It may prolong the whole communities life."
