Remote Work
Remote Work
Moe Vela joins us to talk about some tips for working from home

Living space becomes y c1 if you have spent any time working at home, it can be hard to manage.

Mo, i understand your an expert and can really help us get it under control.

>> you know what, i think we got to start with the underlying premise here.

Everyone is extremely nervous and unsettled right now.

These are anxious times.

They are a little scary for everybody.

We need to be sensitive to the vulnerability from an employee and employer perspective.

There are helpful things to alleviate the anxiety and mitigate the risk.

>> yeah.

Because we have to worry about safety first.

Especially if you work in the field where you know you have passwords and you have people's information, their health information even.

So yeah.

Can you help us out there?

>> absolutely.

Look i think one of the most important things to do right away as an employee moving to a remote work force setting is create a routine.

Remember that self discipline, you're going to have to really find your inner self discipline.

This is the time you really get to shine in your self discipline.

It's important to create a routine at work hours so everything is fast and that will alleviate the concerns moving forward.

The second one i highly recommend is to establish boundaries, designate a work space in your home so that you know when you're there, you're there to work, and the rest of the house is for personal time.

This will help a great deal to get you set in your ways, create that routine i just referenced and make you more productive and efficient.

The other piece i want to remind employees of, your employer is worried about productivity and efficiency.

So it's very important you demonstrate to them through enhanced communication more phone calls, more texts and e-mails, but off to video conference as often as you possibly can.

They need to see you and feel your presence.

Can't connect in person, we need to connect in every day possible so they can feel like you're being productive and efficient.

>> it's funny you say that.

We all want to feel like we are irreplaceable.

We want to make sure our bosses know that.

In that vain of things.

If you're not doing what you normally can do.

If you can't survey areas, is it important to volunteer to pick up other projects?

Would that be a good idea?

>> it would actually.

I think it's really important.

The last thing i have been saying every time we talk about this across the country.

Stay positive.

Focus on the positives.

Remember that right now because you don't have to get in traffic for two hours, commuting or don't have to get in a sardine like a train, you are saving a couple hours on your life every day.

That's a better work-life balance.

To your point, go volunteer somewhere online obviously or maybe deliver things to people but leave them outside their door.

All kinds of ways to be positive.

Participate, unit.

We're all in this together.

Let's focus on the good and there could be good that comes from this bad.

If we make this remote work force work diligently, strategically, operationally, do it well.

And we use technology tools out there.

File sharing.

If we do this right, guess what, we might actually be able to move to more of a remote work force once we get past this pandemic.

>> stay positive and healthy.

>> stay healthy.

See you soon.

That's movela joining us with all those
