Surrey-based care home group CHD Living has had more than 28,000 people sign up to a scheme to virtually ‘Adopt a Grandparent’ in the last two weeks.
Aiming to combat isolation and build connections using video call technology, elderly patients are matched with participant ‘grandchildren’ and take part in planned regular chats.
Since the launch, people have applied from all over the globe including Canada, Greece, the US and Dubai, with adoptive grandchildren aged one to 76.
