With the uncertainty of fall sports happening, local high school athletic staff are thinking of ways to plan ahead.

Imagine not being able to watch your son or daughter play in their high school games.

With large-scale gatherings on hold through at least september -- it may cause the fall sports season to look a lot different.

Kezi 9 news reporter julian mininsohn talked to local athletic directors and coaches about the possible solutions being discussed.

(kenny koberstein) "it certainly seems like if we are not back on the classroom in the fall then things are going to be a lot different.

Ncaa president mark emmert echoed the same sentiment last week about fall college sports, including football.

But the thought of playing without fans is still in the back of coaches minds.

(kenny koberstein) "the first thing that pops into my head is if it isn't safe for fans, how is it safe for our kids?"

One athletic director i talked to says playing without fans would require a stronger virtual presence.

(dave hancock) "we could stream our games on the nfhs network.

Parents could watch a live stream."

(julian bridge) south eugene athletic director dave hancock said moving fall sports into the winter or spring wouldn't be a possibility due to the number of crossover atheletes from sport to sport.

(dave hancock) "we have the ongoing battle as it is for certain athletes that they might do a club volleybal during basketball season or a club basketball season during volleyball season.

That doesn't work out real well."

The student-athletes i talked to say -- if they are cleared to play, they will --- even without fans.

(riley edgar) "it would be weird without fans but i'd sacrifice that to play at little bit more."

(grant thurman) " i'd love to play no matter what so if that's the road we have to take, let's do it.

The athletes also jokingly said -- playing in an empty road stadium would be a lot less stressful.
