Leader of Barrow-in-Furness borough council says early testing strategy likely explains high number of cases

Deputy leader of Barrow Borough Council Lee Roberts explains that high coronavirus case figures are likely down to the borough's early testing strategy.

Mr Roberts suggests high levels of key workers and population density also may play a part.

Mr Roberts calls for further investigations into the data in order to get a clear understanding of the figures.

He said members of the community have been observing social distancing measures and the local hospital has coped with the virus.

As a dock worker himself he said "there's no evidence to say the shipyard has contributed to the stats".
