Wild elephants flee rangers after stealing fruit from farm in Thailand

This is the moment two wild elephants fled wildlife rangers after raiding a farm to steal pieces of fruit.

The jumbos sparked panic when they were seen rummaging through the orchard in Nakhon Nayok, central Thailand, on June 15.

Forestry officials arrived and surrounded the area before the beasts emerged from the wilderness - stomping across a road and making their escape into a neighbouring field.

The rangers said they spent more than five hours monitoring the elephants as both were known for their aggression, sparking fears they could attack locals.

One of the team said: "These two elephants are well-known among for their temperaments, so when we were told they were taking food, we were concerned about the safety of residents and people using the road.''
