As coronavirus numbers rise across the state...the governor and state leaders consider extending the executive order calling for masks in counties where the coronavirus is surging.... wtva's alyssa martin said the governor is following the numbers very closely.
Just one week ago... governor tate reeves issued an executive order that required a face mask in 13 of the state's 82 counties.

The governor said the order may be extended to at least eleven more counties... and add additional restrictions like closing bars.
Or not selling alcohol in those counties may also take effect..

These are the counties currently under a mask mandate from the governor... the order required masks be worn at all times in public... most of these counties are in south and central mississippi..
Only grenada counties is in our area of the state.
The state is considering these eleven counties to be included: forrest... jones... lamar... panola... bolivar... simpson... covington... tate... tallahatchie..
Humphries and sharkey counties... again nearly all of these counties are in central or south mississippi..
For a county to be considered, it would need at least 200 new cases in a two-week period... now, the current executive order expires on monday... and he hinted that it would be extended.
The governor said any decision on an extension or additions will likely come on monday...
