A seedling of a ginkgo tree that survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima was planted in Talent on Saturday.

Park in talent, a sign of hope as the community starts to rebuild.

Newswatch 12's josh shelton has more.

For the first time in 116 days, a significant rain quenched the thirst of a parched landscape in southern oregon.

And the same day, five trees found new homes in chuck roberts park.

0:46 michael oxendine says, "it just was perfect to get these trees in the ground today."

And a special guest was there to see the trees take root.

Hideko tamura snider survived the atomic bomb dropped on hiroshima 75 years ago.

The ginkgo tree was the first sign of life she saw when she returned to the bomb site a year later.

What she saw driving through the aftermath of the almeda fire reminding her of what she saw 75 years ago in japan.

11:41 hideko says, "it threw me back into a war zone.

I couldn't help, but feeling.

The despairing scary, terrifying time that i had," her home once again in ruins.

So hideko wanted to share the same symbol of hope she saw in hiroshima with the people of southern oregon.

The ginkgo tree.

The one planted today a seedling of ones that appeared after being scorched by an atomic bomb.

2:19 oxendine says, "it's a sign of peace.

It's a sign of resilience and a sign of life itself continues."

5:38 hideko tamura snider says, "time changes, but there is something that's constant in tree.

It relates to life, you know, that goes on."

The trees apart of a planned 18 total trees to provide a sanctuary of reflection on both the tragic events from 75 years ago and 32 days ago.

1:24 oxendine says, "we're going to be stronger.

And, uh, these, we can watch these trees grow, um, as our community rebuilds."

A metaphor for the communities affected by the almeda fire.

Every year, growing stronger and stronger with one another.

17:05 hideko says, "human race is caring is meant to be.

You know, god said out of the primordial dark lift there be light and there was light and it was good.

And we have that light in us all."

Today starting with rain the rain then giving away to a little bit of sunshine.
