State lends helping hand to Lane County after watch list warning
Officials said being put on the watch list does have benefits.

Lane county got bumped to governor kate brown's*watch list on friday, joining 4 other counties who have been in need of some*extra attention.

Kezi 9 news reporter kennedy dendy is live outside of lane county public health to share what officials had to say today about the resources being received by the state and how the community is feeling.

Kennedy?

Matt, i'm told that being put on the*watch list does have some benefits.

For example... it takes some of the*weight off of the county's shoulders... by giving us some state resources.

Here's a few of the ways the oregon health authority has been lending a helping hand.

One is by connecting experts with churches and other faith organizations, where high case counts have been reported.

This type of outreach helps both the county and those groups with*tracking and case management.

The state is also helping with increased data analysis on cases, so making connections where it's been tough to do so.

To identify outbreaks and to act at an even quicker rate...before more lives are put at risk.

"everyone needs to do their part.our biggest concern probably is the kids coming back to school because when you're young you think you're immortal and it's not going to hurt you at all but you don't think about passing it along to anyone else."

Cases among the college-age group are still causing great concern for those all over the community.

But lane county officials also said that sporadic cases are way higher than they'd like to see.

So they're hoping o-h-a can help out with that to figure out how to best isolate this virus.

Coming up in the 6 o clock hour, hear from college students about their game plan to keep their family*safe when travelling home for the holidays.
