Pence calls on EU to withdraw from Iran nuclear deal

ROUGH CUT.

NO REPORTER NARRATION.

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence accused Washington's European allies on Thursday (February 14) of trying to break U.S. sanctions against Tehran and called on them to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal.

Pence spoke at a conference in Warsaw focused on Iran attended by 60 countries, including Israel and six Gulf Arab states, but not the Palestinians or Iran itself.

European powers, who oppose the Trump administration's decision to pull out of a nuclear deal with Iran, were openly skeptical of a conference excluding Tehran.

France and Germany declined to send their top diplomats, while British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt left before Thursday's main events.

The EU's foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, also didn't attend.

She was a key negotiator of the 2015 agreement.
