UK's Corbyn: Labour government would not tolerate anti-Semitism

Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn said on Tuesday (November 26) that anti-semitism is ''in any form is vile and wrong.'' His comment came in response to an article in The Times written by Britain's Chief Rabbi - in which he accuses Corbyn of failing to stem the "poison" gripping the opposition party.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) BRITISH LABOUR PARTY LEADER, JEREMY CORBYN, SAYING: "It is an evil within our society.

It's an evil that grew in Europe in the 1920s and onwards and ultimately led to the Holocaust.

There is no place whatsoever for anti-Semitism in any shape or form or in any place whatsoever in modern Britain, and under a Labour government it will not be tolerated in any form, whatsoever.

I want to make that clear." With just over two weeks until the election, a poll by Kantar showed Labour had squeezed the governing Conservatives' opinion poll lead to 11 points from 18 over the last week - putting the Conservative party on 43% and the opposition on 32%.
