"We can only control what we can control, what can we guarantee on the pitch tomorrow night, and the pressure from us will be, from us as a staff to the players, is we're going to play like a Liverpool team, and that will be important to us." 4.

Myself and the players who will be there tomorrow night will be the beneficiaries of that decision.

We will go and try and give everything we've got tomorrow night on the pitch from the first whistle." 6.

END OF PRESS CONFERENCE STORY: Liverpool's stand-in manager Neil Critchley said on Monday (December 16) that the young side he will field to face Aston Villa in Tuesday's League Cup semi-final will be well prepared.

Liverpool are fielding two different playing squads in the League Cup and Club World Cup in the space of 24 hours due to a lack of available dates to postpone their League Cup quarter-final.

The quarter-final against Aston Villa will be played on Tuesday, while manager Juergen Klopp's squad are in Qatar for the FIFA Club World Cup where they play their first match on Wednesday.

Critchley, who manages the club's under-23, said that it will be a great opportunity for the young players who will take to the pitch at Villa Park, adding that he expects them to play like a Liverpool side.

He said that Klopp keeps close tabs on the youngsters and will be watching them closely from Qatar.
