Safehouse is already using its donation money to make clients feel more at home.

Purdue federal credit union gave the not-for- profit domestic violence shelter $2,730.

Hope springs is buying a new baby gate, gas cards, men's toiletries and will revamp its basement boutique with the money.

Clients can earn "hope bucks" to purchase items at the basement boutique.

Toni mcgowen is the executive director of the 5-year-old shelter she says victims of domestic violence can stay up to 2 years in the house.

She adds it's all about creating a welcoming atmosphere.

We want to think about what if we want our mother to comer to a shelter.

We want them to come in and not feel scared or unsafe or feel like its unclean.

We try our best to make sure it is very inviting.

The donated funds were raised during pfcu's skip-a-pay promotion.

It let members skip a loan payment in december or january for a small fee.

That fee was then donated to hope springs.
