Local woman finishing up final days of quarantine

A woman from Red Bluff who has been in quarantine for almost two weeks says she will return home on Monday.

A woman -- from here at home caugh* in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak -- is finishing up her final days in quarantine.

Action news now reporter kristian lopez spoke with wanda schuler kristian, when will she be back in red bluff?

Wanda schuler has been quarantined here at the travis air force base in fairfield for almost two weeks but on monday - she's heading home to red bluff.

Wanda schuler: "woohoo getting out of here.

Hope i remember how to drive and i hope i remember how to drive my plane too because i'm really anxious to do that."

Wanda schuler is wrapping up her final days in quarantine at the travis air force base.

Wanda: "i'm ready, i guess part of me think someone will move the finish line but from all indications show we will be out of here on monday."

Schuler is one of more than 300 americans caught in the middle of the outbreak after embarking on the diamond princess cruise ship in japan.

Wanda: i feel fine, i have felt fine since i've been here.... she returned to the u-s earlier this month and has remained healthy and optimistic.

Wanda: "i have a negative test and our quarantine ends with a travel day on monday.

I'll be driving myself from here to my home."

Saturday -- health officials in washington state confirmed the first death in the united states from the coronavirus.

Wanda: i think it was probably inevitable, all you have to do is look around the world and see it's popping up so i think it's inevitable but i think as a country we are probably more prepared than most.

As fears of a widespread outbreak across the country continue growing- schuler says she's not too concerned.

Wanda schuler: i'm confident that our government is going to do whatever is necessary.

### according to the cdc's website, 44 americans who were on that diamond princess cruise ship tested positive for the coronavirus.
