We're hearing from the superintendent after Gov.

Walz issued recommendations to slow the spread of COVID-19

Pharmacies.// now looking closer to home á minnesota broke double digits for the number of coronavirus cases.

14 positive tests are being reported in 8 counties... including olmsted... though, there are no signs of local transmission yet.

This afternoon governor tim walz declared a peacetime emergency for five days.

Walz is urging minnesotans to do the following: cancel or postpone large events in excess of 250 people gathered... ensure space for social distancing of six feet per person at smaller gatherings... and limit gatherings with participants at high risk for severe disease to less than 10 people./// as governor walz makes these community mitigation recommendatio ns á local leaders are explaining how these measures will be implemented in our community.

George á we're hearing from superintenden t michael munoz on the latest measures rochester public schools is taking.

As you mentioned governor walz's biggest recommendatio ns are practicing social distancing and limiting crowd sizes.

Munoz says social distancing can be difficult to implement in schools... rápás is working on ways to make some changes in the school buildings to put more distance between kids... such as possibily making recess groups smaller.

Xxx thats a challenge for schools.

We are going to quickly hopefully monday get together with a few administrators to talk about what that looks like in our buildings.

Until further notice á school field trips and large group activities are cancelled and school volunteers will not be allowed in schools.
