Tonight... oregon's delegation to congress sent a letter to president trump, asking him to declare a major disaster in our state.

Kezi nine news reporter connor mccarthy is live here in the studio and shows us what this means exactly., this letter behind me is a copy of what was sent to the president by all of oregon's senators and represntaitives in the house.

The letter is asking the president to declare a major disaster in oregon so the state can get access to federal funding.

Oregon's represatives from both side of the isle say the support governor kate brown's request for a federal disaster declaration.

The co-signed letter says they want a declaration to be declared so the state can recieve help with indiviudal assistance programs... like unemployment assitance.

The letter says quote-- no state will be able to respond to the covid-19 pandemic alone, which is why we urge you to approve governor brown's full request for assistance.

President trump has already declared a major disaster in texas... florida..

Illinois... lousiana... california... new york... and washington state.
