With its spiked protein-like appearance, the coronaburger is finally here.
A burger of our times is being flipped and grilled for customers in Vietnam.
You've got to eat it, to beat it, says creator Hoang Tung: (SOUNDBITE) (Vietnamese) CREATOR OF CORONABURGER AND SHOP OWNER, HOANG TUNG, SAYING: "We have this joke that if you are scared of something, eat it, so that's why the coronavirus isn't scary anymore after you eat a burger." Tung runs a pizza business in Hanoi but decided to create this masterpiece to spread some lighthearted joy to people amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
Dang Dinh Quy thought it was a great idea and took his grandson to sample one: (SOUNDBITE) (Vietnamese) RESIDENT, DANG DINH QUY, 66, SAYING: "This coronavirus is very dangerous.
But if we ate a burger in its shape, in our mind it's like we are already victorious over the virus.
If you want to beat it, you gotta eat it first" It took a day of experimentation to come up with the recipe: Green tea powder and vegetable juice made the perfect green tinge of the virus.
Tung hopes his creation will not only give his customers a mentality boost, but also an alternative income for his suffering business during the outbreak.
And sales show his creativity has paid off- the shop sold 50 burgers on the first day.
And for anyone worried about the safety of the restaurant - look only to the front door, where all who enter must first go through a disinfection chamber.
