Navy navy support activity crane is one of the largest navy installations in the country.

Many wabash valley residents work on base daily.

News 10 bureau chief gary brian is live from his home in vincennes.

He tells us what leaders at the base are doing to handle covid-19.

Just weeks ago navy leaders began restrictions at the base in crane indiana.

But now they are also looking to be prepared in case the pandemic comes to the gate.

Restrictions include many that everyone is used to these days...like social distancing and working from home.

The base has closed it's bedford and burns city gates.

The cafeteria has also closed and the conference center on base will close on march 30th.

While the base is taking steps to limit contact...it is also planning incase the pandemic breaches the gates.

Today i spoke with installation commanding officer timothy powers.

He says all the different organizations on base have been working together.

He says they have plans in place to meet the problem head on.

"a lot of smart folks working on this problem.

We've got very good plans in place to deal with the potential case here on the installation."

A lot of wabash valley residents work for crane army ammunition acitivy.

On monday i plan to speak with army leaders and have how they're handling this crisis.
