First responders are helping community members during the pandemic.

The coronavirus pandemic is prompting communities to find differents ways to help their residents stay safe.

Albert lea fire rescue is one department that works closely with its residents.

One way they're able to stay connected is through their reassurance program á which lets them check in with the vulnerable populations.

Kimt news three's maleeha kamal is showing us how they're adding more resources to program.xxx look live: this program will allow those of the vulnerable population to call with they need something like groceries.

For albert lea fire rescue á citizen safety is their top priortiy.

Given the toll that the coronavirus has taken on communities across the nation the department is trying to help folks comply with the stay at home order.

"were at that time where the governor has asked people to stay home so if we can limit the amount of people at the grocery store by having one peron maybe go get groceries for four different people we are alleviate that possible exposure to covidá19."

The depeartment is partnering with the united way and faith based groups to provide the pandemic program.

"the services that can be provided just anything that person would need assistance with.

" from medication to basic needs á this program has the ability to help hundreds if not thousands of people during this difficult time.

Chief deputy jeff laskowske says not everyone feels safe making a trip to the grocery store and this is one less thing people will have to worry about.

"do they need someone to get them groceries or are they struggling financially to get groceries that the other part within these groups we have the funding to help out with that."

It's a program that helps the department keep their most vulnerable people taken care of.
