Karen, how does this new tool work?

It is called "report stay-at- home- violations"and it's available on the redding police department's website.

The tool is meant to crackdown on businesses not complying with california's stay at-home order.

The r-p-d says they receive several calls about businesses staying open that may not be considered essential.

They're hoping the online reporting tool will reduce the number of calls that they receive.

I don't think we should start policing eachother, but i think at this point people have enough information how to approach businesses and how to seek services like that.

The r-p-d says violations will initially be cross-reported to shasta county public health.

If the business is not considered "essential"shasta county public health will visit the business to help educate the business owner.

In redding, karen alvarez, action news now, coverage you can count on.

The redding police department says if the business remains open -- they will start cracking down.
