Madison County Director of Public Health Eric Faisst is urging businesses in Madison County to deny entry to those not conforming to Governor Cuomo's Executive Order to wear face coverings in public.

Mandating people wear a face covering in public...begins tonight at 8:00.

And one local county is urging businesses to deny peopel entry if they aren't wearing one.

That county is madison county.

News channel two's gary liberatore joins us now from oneida with more.

Tc: 08:35 - 08:50 "heres one example....people are going in left and right at this very busy price chopper on route 5 in oneida...without a face covering... but will they be doing this after 8:00 tonight?

(nat of cars going by) when it comes to traffic on the roadways, it may often seem like things are actually normal...like there's no pandemic going on...and some say that it's that way in many stores as well..

None tc : 11:15 "a majority of complaints that we see are people complaining about other people in the stores not wearing masks."

Madison county public health directory eric faisst says he is in total agreement with governor cuomo that people should be wearing masks....not only for their own safety...but the safety of others...and is urging businesses to deny peopel entry if they don't have a face covering on that covers their nose and mouth... tc : 11:27 "we are recommending that they take charge of that and say we dont want you to come in because we dont want other customers to be affected or our employees."

I contacted price chopper's public relations department and was told someone would get back to me as far as whetehr they will deny shoppers entry after 8:00 friday night...no one did get back to me.

Someone from the big lots store on route 5 told me they will not deny anyone.

A spokesperson fro walmart from their coroporate headquaretrs in arkansas would not say whether patrons would be denied entry but did releas the following statement saying quote.... "maintaining customer and associate safety remains our top priority.

We encourage customers to be especially mindful of one another during this unprecedented time and adhere to gov.

Cuomo's executive order, requiring the use of face coverings."

I also spoke to the county leaders in oneida, herkimer and otsego county.

Thhey all say they are not urging busiensses to deny entry...but are hopeing peopel will wear a face covering in the name of safety.
