Thrashed Dreams: Pair of seniors journey cut short
Thrashed Dreams: Pair of seniors journey cut short

When spring sports were canceled, many journeys for senior athletes came to an end.

For two Thrasher seniors, they were hoping to use this season as chance to see all their hard work come to fruition.

Thrasher.

When i pulled up, i immediately noticed their softball field.

Even with sports canceled, the field was pristine.

A group of parents privately fundraised to make the field happen.

Prior to that, softball played on the baseball field.

Didn't have a field of their own.

The rebels have come a long way and for two senior standouts, this was their year to complete their journey of taking thrasher softball to new heights.

(albanie) i wish it was all a dream (montgomery) playing softball at thrasher, we all just kinda started from nothing.

(track) montgomery tittle and albanie windham are the first two players in school history to receive scholarships to play softball at the next level.

They're both going to northeast next season, but they're having a tough time letting go of this one.

Montgomery's senior poster remains up at the field.

(montgomery) i haven't got enough courage to take it down yet (matt) why's that?

(montgomery) it's just because when i take it (matt) why's that?

(montgomery) it's just because when i take it down, it's really over.

(montgomery) it's just because when i take it down, it's really over.

It's taken me a minute to take it down.

(track) for albanie, she's been softball (track) for albanie, she's been softball since she was three years old.

(albanie) you get to play something, every day and you get to grow, you always have something to achieve, you can always make yourself better and have fun.

(track) an aspect of her playing time which made playing softball even more fun for albanie was that she got to play it with her younger sister, allie.

This could have been allie's last time getting to play with big sis.

(allie) it's just a big bummer, because i've always looked forward to this season because i knew it was going to be our last one together, so i was trying to do something really special this season so we could really remember it.

(albanie) it's going to be really different, because i played short and she played second, so we're right there together and we always talk and have fun and i've never played without her.so it's going to be really changing for me played without her.so it's going to be really changing for me (track) well i just couldn't let that stand.

I told the girls, grab your gloves, get out on that field and let's turn some double plays.

(nat) and even though the season never happened, montgomery is focusing on what she has, not what she lost.

Never happened, montgomery is focusing on what she has, not what she lost.

(montgomery) i've been very grateful to have so many memories we have now together on this field, it's sad that it got cut short but you know, gotta move on with it.

Later this week, we'll hear from someone who is trying to make it so that montgomery and albanie get to represent thrasher
