Our most recent conversation was with Clint Lamb, the Mayor of Sullivan.

Yesterday... you heard from the mayors of "washington" and "oblong, illinois."

News 10's jordan kudisch is live in our newsroom.

She spoke with the sullivan's mayor to find out what he's doing to keep people safe.

The mayor of sullivan..

Like many of the mayors across the valley..

Is wearing multiple hats to help serve as many people as possible.

I spoke with mayor "clint lamb" about the process so far.

He says it's been a whirlwind of tasks thrown their direction.

Right now..

Animal control calls are seeing an increase.

People are becoming more aware of their neighbors.

They're even taking a look at the animal ordinance again after the increase in calls.

Meanwhile on a more positive note..

They're seeing more people walking or biking.

Mayor "lamb" says they're seeing both ends of the spectrum in sullivan.

He tells me..

Right now he's dealing with the cards given..

The best way possible.

"when we say dealing it's not just the business aspect of it, you've got to be a counselor to the local businesses that are struggling, those families that are reaching out to you, the ones that don't have day care right now.

Those are the folks that you need to think about.

Mayor "brian wyndham" says his residents are taking this virus seriously.

And that's why he believes there are only a few cases.

They're all closed per the governor's orders.

Mayor "wyndham" says that after the virus calms down..

Many of these will not be financially stable to re-open.

But regardless of the economic impact..

He wants his residents to put their health first.

That means staying inside..

Avoiding large groups..

And washing your hands regularly.

He says leads the community by being proactive..

But the virus has caused him to lead much differently.
