Our top story tonight at 6... some non-essential businesses in georgia have the option to re-open tomorrow.

While many are against the idea ... commissioners in monroe county are supporting governor brian kemp's decision.

41nbc's peyton lewis has more.

0:15-0:27 0:38-1:08 1:53-1:57 in a 4 to 1 vote, monroe county commissioners will create a resolution to send to georgia governor brian kemp, after his decision to allow some non-essential businesses to reopen friday.

Monroe county chairman, greg tapley, voted in favor of the governor and says he believes kemp's executive order will help georgians and monroe county.

"he's already started the reopening of georgia, and a lot of folks have a lot of comments about that.

I am guardedly optimistic that we'll be okay."

The only commissioner to oppose the state reopening was larry evans.

He believes the resolution will send the wrong message.

Evans called the decision very irresponsible.

Evans sot businesses like gyms, bowling alleys, and barber shops, are some of the businesses that can reopen, but with minimum operations.

Commissioner evans said he has personally seen the impact of covid-19, and says the governor should rescind his executive order.

"i'm thinking we should do just like macon, and that is the bibb county board of health, the monroe county board of health and the bibb county board of commissioners they voted to send the governor a request to rescind his order.

And i think it was very prudent on their part and i commend them for it and i'm thinking that's exactly c1 3 b13 what he needs to do."
