Principal Heidi Hermansen said she and her staff wanted to do something special for their 40 seniors.

Tongiht at 11... as graduation approaches for many high school seniors.... school distrcits are trying to figure out a way to honor the achievements of their students during the pandemic.

As kezi nine news reporter connor mccarthy shows us ... one high school in linn county is doing a drive-in graduation.

Central linn junior- senior high in halsey has been quiet lately.... no classes.... no spring sports.... nat just the sound of birds chirping across campus.

"i love going to shcool.

We have a really tight community, we have a tight faculty and staff."

Allison crowell is one out of nearly 40 seniors graduating this year and like many across western oreogn..... graduation is on her mind.

"i definetly questioned like what form of graduation if any are we going to have."

So staff at central linn wanted to do something diffrent... connor: the schoool usually holds their graduation ceremony in the gym, but instead they decided to have a drive-in graduation ceremony here on the football field... with cars parked along the track.

"it's still a celebration and we're still honoring our seniors and it's going to be a little different then in the gym like we usually hold it but we still will have the important lurches so they can remember the day.

Principal heidi hermansen says it was a rocky school year with a bomb scare.... shutdowns because of the flu... and the death of two staff memmbers and student "we lost in febuarary a teacher in math and a writing teacher and six days before that we lost on of our class mates a senior.

""i think this graduation will be more of celebrating for ourselves but recognizing the people the people in our community that we lost and really letting the light shine for them there will still be speeches.... names will still be read on loud speakers... and seniors willl still be able to get out of their cars and walk across the stage.... a life moment almost robbed by the corona virus.
